Artivism Empowering Through Art

Greetings, art lovers and advocates of inclusivity! I’m Regina, the proud owner of Pink Panther Designs, and I’m thrilled to share the powerful journey that has led to the creation of this inclusive art community. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, a transnational intersectional feminist, and an artist in multiple mediums, my experiences, and the wisdom of feminist luminaries like bell hooks, Judith Butler, Angela Davis, Simone de Beauvoir, Mireille Miller-Young, and Amia Srinivasan have been instrumental in shaping Pink Panther Designs into a haven for marginalized communities and a beacon of “artivism.”

Feminist Icons as Guiding Stars:

Before we dive into the vibrant world of Pink Panther Designs, it’s essential to acknowledge the influential feminists who have guided my path. bell hooks, with her eloquent discussions on the intersections of race, gender, and class, opened my eyes to the profound importance of understanding multifaceted identities and privileges. Judith Butler’s groundbreaking work on performativity and deconstructing gender norms empowered me to challenge the societal constructs that restrain self-expression. Angela Davis, a tireless champion of prison abolition and racial justice, ignited my commitment to social activism through art. Simone de Beauvoir’s groundbreaking work “The Second Sex” reminded me of the necessity of questioning the patriarchal norms that persist in our lives. Mireille Miller-Young’s exploration of black feminist sexuality and pornography expanded my understanding of female agency and self-expression. Amia Srinivasan’s insightful work on desire, consent, and feminism inspired me to create a space where conversations on these topics can thrive.

The Genesis of Pink Panther Designs:

Pink Panther Designs emerged from a passionate desire to create a platform that decentralizes heteronormativity and offers a safe, inclusive space for marginalized communities to express themselves. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a transnational intersectional feminist, I recognized the paramount importance of representation and empowerment through art. My skills as a tattoo artist, painter, digital artist, and vulva jewelry artist became tools to create a welcoming oasis for those seeking self-expression and empowerment.

“Artivism” – Art as Activism:

Pink Panther Designs embodies the concept of “artivism,” where art catalyzes change, self-expression, and empowerment. We are committed to promoting diverse and inclusive narratives, informed by the understanding that feminism comes in many forms. We believe that art is a potent tool for activism, allowing us to challenge societal norms, expose injustices, and celebrate the beauty of diversity.

Decentralizing Heteronormativity:

Our mission at Pink Panther Designs is to challenge the hegemony of heteronormativity within the art world. We celebrate diversity and advocate for the inclusion of marginalized voices. In our community, authenticity and self-expression are valued, providing a space for those often overlooked and unheard.

Creating a Safe Place:

Art, for many, is not just an aesthetic endeavor; it is a lifeline to self-discovery, healing, and empowerment. At Pink Panther Designs, we prioritize creating a safe space where individuals can explore their creativity and identity without fear or judgment. Whether through tattoos, paintings, digital art, or jewelry, our goal is to provide a sanctuary where clients can feel seen and heard, where their stories matter.

In the spirit of Angela Davis, who once said, “You have to act as if it were possible to transform the world radically. And you have to do it all the time,” we strive to be a catalyst for transformation. Pink Panther Designs is more than just an art studio; it’s a feminist-inspired movement. We aim to amplify and celebrate the voices of the unheard, challenge boundaries, and create a brighter, more diverse future.

Thank you for joining us on this journey towards a more inclusive world where “artivism” reigns supreme. Together, we can harness the power of art to inspire change, empower individuals, and challenge the status quo.
